6th September 2012 Hiking - Walking: Orford Wind Direction: sw Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: Sea Temperature: Weather: sunny periods Max Speed: 5/6 miles (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: What a top day :) September has started really well with sunny warm weather and more to come. With not much wind forecast or so I thought Mag and I headed to Levington for breakfast and I have never seen the water so'ooooooooooo low and it was like a millpool with not a breath of wind and I saw my first kingfisher of the year !!! We then headed up the coast stopping at Edgeriders - kite shop for some new windsurfing shoes and ended up at Orford, parking at the lovelly castle. With picnic lunch we headed to the River Alde and then walked along the banks past Havergate Island before stopping by a branch where another river heads off for our sandwich and a read but the wind had picked up by this time and it was a bit chilly so we headed back to Orford Quay and then through the very pretty Orford town to the van and headed back to Felixstowe to get my windsurfing kit out to make the most of the breeze and sunshine :) |
